MONDO: Could you tell us a little about yourself and your work?
James Davidge: The Wandering Stars is a comic series about seven mathematicians from various parts of history who have banded together to magically take on problems of a grand and metaphysical nature. It is written by myself, James Davidge and drawn by my cousin, Jesse Davidge.
I am a teacher and published novelist from Calgary, Alberta. My comic work has also appeared in Tales from the Harbor, an anthology from Happy Harbor Comics. I am the author of the Driftwood Saga, a series of fantasy novels with the second title, Driftwood's Crusade, due out this fall (check it out).
Jesse, the illustrator is an animator in Vancouver. He has worked on several features and TV series including I Robot and Happy N'Ever After. Jesse is also the administrator of our great website www.rosencrantzcomics.com/ .
MONDO: What's your game plan for TCAF? Are you debuting a new comic, selling merchandise, participating in a seminar?
JD: We are hoping to promote The Wandering Stars to a new market. As well, we look forward to meeting the artists, publisher, fans, media and whoever else is participating in this exciting and unique event. It's great that there is a gathering in Canada that celebrates comics as an art form not just a brand of entertainment.
MONDO: What are you most looking forward to at TCAF this year?
JD: The evening events - mixing it up with folk in a social setting - unwinding after shilling our story to the public for eight hours.
MONDO: Who are you most looking forward to meeting?
JD: I'm a big fan of Seth, Joe Matt and Chester Brown. When I was younger, reading some of their autobiographical work really created a sense that I already knew them so meeting them would be a treat. As well, I look forward to meeting Jim Ottoviani, as the work he does has great similarities to The Wandering Stars.
MONDO: What do you think of Toronto?
JD: I always have fun in Toronto. I have quite a few friends who have traveled from the west to make a go of it in the Big Smoke and I always enjoy visiting them when I am here. There is always so much to do.
