MONDO: Could you tell us a little about yourself and your work?

Joey Weiser: My name is Joey Weiser, and I’m a cartoonist living in Bloomington, Indiana. I’m a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design. My work has been published in a number of anthologies, including Put the Book Back on the Shelf: A Belle & Sebastian Anthology, and Flight Volumes 3 & 4. My first graphic novel, The Ride Home was just published by AdHouse Books. My work is mostly intended for all ages, and I try to keep it fun and sincere.

MONDO: What's your game plan for TCAF? Are you debuting a new comic, selling merchandise, participating in a seminar?

JW: Well, I’ll be sharing a table with Michele Chidester, David Yoder, Adam Aylard, Drew Weing, and Eleanor Davis. We’ll all be selling our mini comics and various wares. I’ll also have copies of The Ride Home. I may also be bouncing around between the Flight and AdHouse tables. The Ride Home technically debuted at the San Diego Comic Con, but it’ll have only been out a few weeks by the time TCAF rolls around…so it’s not exactly debuting, but it’s still fresh out of the oven!

MONDO: What are you most looking forward to at TCAF this year?

JW: I just love comics! I’m looking forward to talking about comics, being surrounded by people interested in the art, and discovering new books and creators!

MONDO: Who are you most looking forward to meeting?

JW: Anyone and everyone! Looking through the list of attendees, there are definitely some cool people who I’ve never met before, but I’m really looking forward to meeting as many people as I can. It’s funny…normally I’m pretty shy, but my favorite thing about these comic conventions and festivals is meeting new people and seeing old friends.

MONDO: What do you think of Toronto?

JW: I’ve never been there. Actually, I’ve never been to Canada, so that’s another thing that makes me excited about TCAF! I’ve heard very nice things about Toronto, though, so I’m totally looking forward to seeing it for myself. I’m hoping to get a chance to visit The Beguiling, because it sounds really cool as well!
