MONDO: Could you tell us a little about yourself and your work?

Brian McLachlan: When I was 8 years old I entered a drawing contest in Owl Magazine. They published my vision of a 20th century green skinned human. Now I'm back working for them as an adult writing the middle school shenanigans of Alex & Charlie and creating other fun things like valentines, puzzles and cootie catchers. I wrote a romantic comedy graphic novel called No Dead Time, do a webcomic The Princess Planet and have cartooned for Nickelodeon, The Toronto Star, Tribe, Broken Pencil, uTOpia, Taddle Creek, Wizards of the Coast and lots more.

MONDO: What's your game plan for TCAF? Are you debuting a new comic, selling merchandise, participating in a seminar?

BM: TCAF weekend will mark my joining Transmission X (a webcomics hub of talented Torontonians) with my hilarious-out-loud 3-year-old web strip The Princess Planet.

MONDO: What are you most looking forward to at TCAF this year?

BM: Drawing picture for kids at the OWL Kids table is always the most fun!

MONDO: Who are you most looking forward to meeting?

BM: Tons of awesome comic fans! Also Jim Rugg because I really liked Street Angel and the Dumbrella guys are pretty funny too!

MONDO: What do you think of Toronto?

BM: Under the bleak finanical problems, lack of will to make bold political changes and underfunding of local artists, it's amazing how vibrant and fun a place it is to make comics, listen to music and play manhunt.
