This past Wednesday, November 14th was the launch of a new Zine Library in the back room of the OCAD Library. The project was organized by third-year Integrated Media student Alicia Nauta with the help of Daniel Payne and teacher Mark Laliberte. Aside from being able to peruse the zines, launch attendees were encouraged to contribute a page to a group zine that was being made right there.

Currently, the catalogue contains approximately 150 zines – and is growing – says Nauta. The OCAD Zine Library is one of three in Toronto and of five in Southern Ontario. The OCAD Zine Library is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. until 5:45 p.m, and is located in the back room of the Dorothy H. Hoover Library. 113 McCaul Street, 2nd Floor. If you interesting in donating to the OZL but are unable to do so in person, zines can be sent to: OCAD Zine Library Collective c/o Dorothy H. Hoover Library, 100 McCaul St., Toronto, ON., M5T 1W1, CANADA. For more information on the OZL you can contact Alicia Nauta at aside_@hotmail.com.

Mark Laliberte (OCAD Staff) and Jen Pilles (Welland, ON. & Sheridan College Zine Libraries) talk about their involvement with zines & zine libraries.
