The Wrap Up

By Owen K. Craig

It was as close a race as they come. We have not one, not two, but THREE ties in the top spots. Especially tough to judge was how to count the Barbara Gordon votes. After all, she entered on our lists as “Batgirl”, as “Oracle”, and as both. Finally, I decided to lump her votes together, except on the list where she was featured twice, when I decided only to count one of the votes to be fair (although I did give her the higher vote. It only seemed right).

As the votes were counted, it was no shocker that Batman took the top spot. People love that broody bastard, after all. But it was shocking to see that Batgirl/Oracle matched him for the #1 position. While one could argue that her presence on our lists under two personas helped, I think it has more to do with the fact that she has become a fasinating character to watch. A few more unexpected characters in high ranking positions included Catwoman and Booster Gold, both taking high positions. Not to mention my boy Jack Knight.

Enough chit chat, though. Let’s look at the list…

1. Tie: Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Batgirl/Oracle (Barabara Gordon)
3. Tie: Catwoman (Selina Kyle) and Flash (Wally West)
5. Tie: Booster Gold (Michael Carter) and Nightwing (Dick Grayson)
7. Robin (Tim Drake)
8. Starman (Jack Knight)
9. Wonder Woman (Diana Prince)
10. Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)

Well, it’s been fun. I suspect a Top 10 Marvel Characters event is in the works. Keep your eyes peeled this January or February.
